Description

Glasshouse Regional Gallery presents:

Summer Fun: Adventures in the Forest of Flickering Lights

Step into an interactive and fun forest art making party experience!

Recommended for ages 6-12.

The forest is home to as many insects and creatures as there are stars in the sky.

The local insects and creatures that call the forest home, gather every thousand years for the Festival of Flickering Lights. All of the whimsical creatures, big and small, work together to create their favourite costumes and decorations to celebrate their magical home at the biggest party in the forest.

This immersive workshop invites the participants to create unique and fantastical decorations and outfits for the Festival of Flickering Lights.

Local artists, Brad Collins, Chris Proctor and Anne de Nooijer will facilitate this interactive experience and assist everyone in creating expressive, quirky and funky outfits and decorations.

Parents to sign each child in and out - drop and go activity.

About the Artists

Anne de Nooijer

Anne De Nooijer is a multidisciplinary Dutch fibre artist, living and working on Birpai Country.

Her practice primarily focuses on sewn and woven artworks. She explores the world around her, social issues and pop culture through contemporary textured pieces made with hand dyed natural textiles.

Brad Collins

Brad M Collins is a multi-disciplinary artist and Illustrator, living in Port Macquarie, NSW.

He creates brightly illustrated characters, existing in a surreal and semi-psychedelic world, while contemplative portraits come to life through the more traditional medium of oil painting.

Brad’s portraits and psychedelic characters have recently met through oil paintings, combining these two contrasting styles and mediums. Whether it’s brightly coloured, anamorphic characters, or contemplative self-portraits, humour generally slides into his easter egg-filled pieces as a cover for a hidden, deeper meaning.

Chris Proctor

Chris Proctor is a contemporary painter, living and working in NSW.

Originally from England, he has called Australia home for the last seven years.

Chris’ work has an ‘ugly is beautiful’ approach and he tries to reuse found materials as much as possible. Using a mixture of wood, paper and vintage frames alongside old paintbrushes and mistinted house paints, Chris tries to create artworks that are both beautiful and meaningful.
